The Challenge
ESL students are generally shy and afraid to speak up in class. They struggle with the pronunciation of words in the classroom texts. They are afraid they will mispronounce words and not be understood. They lack confidence and self-esteem.
ESL students are not rehearsing classroom instruction. They continue to speak their native languages out of the classroom, on campus, at home or the dorm. |

Practice is the Key
Speaking English clearly requires instruction, reinforced with Practice, Practice and more Practice. Unfortunately, for most students practice is limited to the classroom and language lab – and this is just not sufficient to make noticeable improvement.
AAP for MP3 – Practice anywhere, anytime
The MP3 player is the most popular mobile device on campus - practically every student has one and is listening to “something” 24/7 – why not encourage them to listen and practice their pronunciation – to get more involved in the learning process and take responsibility to practice and apply what they are learning in class.
AAP – as an Independent Study Aid
If you are currently using a pronunciation text, your students can still effectively use the AAP MP3 for independent practice to accelerate improvement.
AAP – as a Classroom text
The AAP has been widely accepted as an effective and popular program for high schools, colleges and universities – see endorsements - if you would like to evaluate the American Accent Program © Audio Version for classroom use, you may print out the entire 64 pg text – (see Free Demo Download page)
